What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Specialist - Weekends position at The Willough at Naples?
The Admissions Specialist is responsible for a variety of clerical duties associated with patient referrals and admissions. The individual in this position is responsible for intake calls and reviewing and pulling electronic referrals from outside sources, and coordinating referrals with the Admitting staff and Nursing Supervisor.
Knowledge and Training:
- Ability to handle several job responsibilities at one time, in order to meet individual needs of each unit.
- Ability to communicate consistently and professionally at all times with physicians, staff, patients, and others as the need arises.
- Ability to prioritize work, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret such information as medical records.
- Knowledge of computers and software
- Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
- Skills necessary to ensure properly handling of confidential patient information.
For Admitting:
- Monitors admission computers for any electronic referrals from emergency departments and other referral sources.
- Takes telephone referrals, completes intake information, and communicates the information to the Admissions Counselors for completion.
- Works with the admission staff and nursing supervisors on processing admissions specifically for the completion of the admitting staff intake forms.
Assists Nursing Supervisor by:
- Provides support, including generating program related forms, filing and administrative support to the nursing supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
- Labels, assembles, completes, and processes patient’s charts as requested.
- Helps maintain an accurate clinical record, recording information per hospital policy.
- Files clinical documentation in patients’ medical records.
- Answers unit phones, and takes messages.
- Attends in-service training and participation in other activities as required.
- Performs other job duties as assigned or requested.

- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Behavioral Health: 1 year (Preferred)
- Hospital Admissions: 1 year (Required)
