We are seeking a Resident Assistant in our premiere Retirement and Senior Care Community. Individual will assist in day-to-day activities, serve as a thoughtful companion, and encourage a positive social environment through regular interaction. POSITION SUMMARY
The Resident Assistant role was established to help our residents maintain their independence by providing them with non-medical companionship in the Community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Perform household activities which include, but are not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, doing laundry and other household tasks that the client may need assistance with.
- Prepare meals and snacks if needed as well as providing assistance with grocery shopping.
- Provide companionship for our clients. This may include accompanying clients on walks, trips to social or recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.
- Provide medication reminders.
- Provide appointment reminders.
- Encourages client in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
- Maintains confidentiality standards and follows HIPPA guidelines.
- Promotes dignity for all clients.
- Provides care to clients’ animals as required, such as: walking the dog, changing the litter box, and/or cleaning up after accidents.
- Drives vehicle from community area to destination according to assigned schedule.
- Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicles.
- Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trips.
- Cleans and fuels vehicles after trips.
- Meets all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements and Experience:
· High School diploma/GED
· Must be 18 years of age.
· Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
· Must have an acceptable driving record based on Woodlands driving requirements and policy.

- Ability to communicate effectively speaking the primary language of the residents.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to maintain time sheets and routine correspondence.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
· Team Members may be exposed to blood and/or body fluids with potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
