Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include day, evening, weekends and holidays.
Anticipated work schedule would be Thursday through Monday with Tuesday/Wednesday off.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with development of new programs related to small watercraft and the environment.
- Recommend, plan, and run aspects of programs and special events for all age groups and the special needs population.
- Promote department programs and services to customers and residents in person and by phone.
- Develop and implement revenue generating activities and events to supplement program operation.
- Assist with accident reports and overall safety of the boat houses.
- Create and turn in reports on attendance, revenue and usage.
- Greet and assist visitors and direct to appropriate area or person.
- Assist with the use, maintenance and operation of the Boat Houses.
- Collect fees for boat rentals, programs and other services offered by the Boat Houses, Northshore Rental Facility and the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Assist in preparation of promotional material pertaining to facility use, hours of operations, fees, policies, etc.
- Answer phones; answer routine questions or direct call to appropriate staff member; take message as needed.
- Assist in evaluation of facility operations; administering operating policies and procedures, recommending improvements and modifications; preparing various reports on operations and activities including facility use, revenue generation expenses, participation numbers, safety reports, accident reports, and financial reports.
- Assist with training of part time, seasonal, volunteer, and contract staff.
- Assist with development of schedules and plan activities for instructional program and special events.
- Conduct surveys of program participants; compiles and analyzes data; recommends revisions or additions to programs as appropriate. Monitor and evaluate attendance, revenue and training.
- Plan and prepare material for publicizing the small craft programs for the public.
- Develop and monitor an ongoing program of accident prevention and general safety.
- Prepare accident, program registration, attendance, and other related reports.
- Enforce rules and procedures for efficient and effective operation of the Boat House.
- Assist with recreation programs, special events and special projects as required.
- Works outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Early mornings, late evenings and weekend hours are expected. Schedule varies according to assigned events and programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education: Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Travel or Tourism preferred.
Experience: Over one year up to and including three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years related experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license and meet the driver safety requirements.
- American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 1 Instructor Certified or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office/Office 365
