Summary of Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Program Coordinator, the Recreation Specialist for Swim Team will oversee the Swim Team Head Coaches, Swim Team Assistant Head Coaches, and volunteers that help at meets. Responsible for providing aquatic learning in a safe environment. Responsible for managing and updating Swimtopia, Swim Team paperwork, and meet entries. This position is a temporary seasonal position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee swim team coaches and ensure they are present at each practice, actively involved with swimmers, come prepared with their workout for the day and ensure said workout is age and level appropriate.
- Assist with covering shifts.
- Assist with meet entries for both individual races and relays.
- Ensure swim team practices run properly and start on time.
- Responsible for ordering all supplies and equipment, having them ready for every practice and meet, and putting them all away after practices and meets. These responsibilities also include returning the Dolphin Starters to the Aquatics office after each home meet.
- Monitor pool during meets and practices to ensure deck remains clear.
- Observe and notify facility staff of any pool maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Enforce department rules and policies as outlined in The Woodlands Township Employee Handbook, The Woodlands Township Swim Team Manual, and NWAL Handbook and code of conduct.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and coaches to include working with parents at meets and answering questions at the pool, via email and phone.
- Communicate effectively with patrons and employees to ensure a safe and professional work environment. Responsible for informing the Aquatics Program Coordinator of any issues that arise outside scope of work.
- Assist with swim team and meet registrations.
- Must be present at every practice and meet, and find adequate coverage as needed. This includes time trials, dual meets, home and away, invitational meets.
- Required to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events.
- Required to attend all orientation meetings and trainings.
- Conduct weekly meetings with Assistant Head Swim Coaches and Head Swim Coaches.
- Wear prescribed uniform.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: While under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Program Coordinator, the Recreation Specialist for Swim Team is responsible for the development, training, and appraising performance of the Assistant Head Swim Coaches and Head Swim Coaches.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience: Understanding of how Dolphin Timers work and ability to train others and troubleshoot in case of errors. Must be able to do meet exchanges on Swimtopia.

Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
- Must pass the NWAL Team Representative online test.
Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older by April 1, 2025.
Scheduling Demands:
- Must be available to work from April to June (anticipated working hours are listed below).
- April to End of May – 4:15pm to 8:30pm
- End of May to June – 7:00am to 12:00pm
- Must attend all swim meets.
- Must be present at all practices and meets.
- Conduct weekly meetings with Assistant Head Swim Coaches and Head Swim Coaches.
- Attend weekly meeting with Aquatics Program Coordinator.
- Required to attend all orientation meetings and trainings.
Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check, and Social Security Number verification check.
Computer Skills: Computer proficiency in MS Office preferred.
Safety-Sensitive: This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
