The Digital Transformation Vertical Vice Presidency was established on July 1, 2024, and will guide World Bank Group efforts to establish the foundations of a digital economy, build and enhance digital and data infrastructure, ensure cybersecurity and data privacy for institutions, businesses, and citizens, and advance digital government services. Digital technologies, including AI and data, present a unique opportunity to accelerate development. The Digital Transformation Vertical has the critical mission of delivering on this development promise. The Digital Vice Presidency and its global and regional teams support client countries in building the foundational and cross-cutting elements of digital transformation through two engagement pillars, six business lines, and multiple cross-cutting areas.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
As a Program Assistant, you will be a highly engaged member of the unit’s support team, actively providing guidance on operational policies and guidelines, demonstrating a strong drive for results, dedication, and commitment to teamwork. The selected candidate will report directly to the Vice President and will be an essential member of the Digital Vice Presidency Unit front office.

- Digital Core: Building digital infrastructure through broadband network, affordable devices; Enhancing data infrastructure including data centers, cloud solutions and data governance; Enabling AI and cutting-edge technology applications; and Protecting institutions, businesses, and citizens through cybersecurity, data protection & privacy, trust services as well as online safety.
- Digital Use: Supporting the Regions and the Verticals of People, Prosperity, Planet, and Infrastructure in the digitalization efforts of clients through Digital Government (digital public infrastructure, digital government services, and digital literacy and training), Digital Economy (national ICT planning, ICT industry and jobs, and smart infra and industry) and Digital Society (digital school, digital health, etc.).
Job Duties And Responsibilities
As a Program Assistant, you will be a highly engaged member of the unit’s support team, actively providing guidance on operational policies and guidelines, demonstrating a strong drive for results, dedication, and commitment to teamwork. The selected candidate will report directly to the Vice President and will be an essential member of the Digital Vice Presidency Unit front office.
Administrative Support
- Function with judgment to provide a wide-range of support to the program, including managing priorities, day-to-day supervision, and coordination of the unit’s workflow, quality assurance (i.e., documents, processes, etc.), screening of all incoming documents, drafting responses and ensuring the smooth delivery of services.
- Drafts/finalizes correspondence on a range of topics on behalf of the team and prepares minutes of meetings.
- Serves as the first point of contact and liaison with clients and officials both inside (including coordination with country offices, etc.) and outside the Bank Group.
- Independently responds to diverse inquiries and makes decisions when multiple courses of action are possible.
- Coordinates and monitors multiple and diverse work processes and activities to ensure that decisions are properly carried out and products are delivered in a timely manner.
- Support with logistical preparations, including Webex, video, and audio conferencing, for meetings or other events.
- Coordination of administrative functions such as TRS, LARS.
- Provide logistical support to prepare Unit meetings.
- Maintain up-to-date distribution lists.
- Initiate, edit and distribute Mission Announcement Letters (MAL), Terms of Reference (TOR), Back to Office Reports (BTOR), and other mission-related documents under the guidance of the various TTLs.
- Check and update projects milestones in SAP, assist teams in processing them in Operations Portal.
- Assist TTLs with the e-consult process involved in the hiring of consultants. Processing of TRs & SOEs for STCs. Format and publish requests for Expression of Interest on the DG Market and the UNDB websites when required.
- Ensure that all team members are informed of changes to Bank/Regional operational policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Organize and maintain an electronic (WBDocs) filing system for all institutional documents related to work program.
- High school diploma with 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced working skills in multiple computer software applications.
- Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in a proven track record of effectively delivering technical information in a clear, easily understandable, and effective manner.
- Driven, self-starter who can proactively solve problems constructively and effectively and with professionalism.
- High degree of discretion, ethics, tact and sensitivity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong attention-to-detail, creative problem-solving, and coordination/logistics skills.
- Proven ability to function effectively as a team member of multi-disciplinary teams and resolve disagreements constructively.
- Working proficiency in English is essential. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
- Project and task management - Able to undertake diverse and complex assignments with minimal supervision and resolve competing demands. Demonstrates good organizational skills, can plan and prioritize own work and work of internal clients.
- Institutional policies, processes, and procedures - Demonstrates relevant functional knowledge and understanding of institutional priorities, policies, operational and administrative procedures, and people. Able to practically apply and guide others in policy application.
