Position Overview:
Are you a detail-oriented financial expert with a passion for making an impact? Join REACH as our Finance Manager. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee financial operations and ensure our fiscal health aligns with our mission of innovation and excellence.
The Finance Manager will manage financial activities including overseeing accounts, maintaining internal controls, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and planning processes. This role will also focus on grants and contracts management, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue, costs, program budgets, and expenditures.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state programs, including payroll and proper cost allocation methodologies.
  • Grant and Contract Management:
    • Manage financial aspects of grants and contracts from pre-award to post-award.
    • Provide support to directors and staff on financial matters including expense reconciliations, budget tracking, procurement, budget creation, projections, and rolling budgets, while adhering to funder requirements and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) policies.
    • Support program and fiscal audits, including physical inventory and asset schedules.
    • Collaborate with directors and staff to understand program needs, comply with funder terms, manage deliverables, monitor expenditures, request amendments, and plan spend-out.
    • Monitor grant financial progress, investigate variances, approve expenses, issue program billings, and ensure payments are collected.
    • Coordinate with subrecipients to perform financial reviews and monitor internal controls.
  • Reporting and Compliance:
    • Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Assist with the annual audit process by coordinating with auditors and preparing documentation.
    • Update financial reporting frameworks to meet current GAAP and audit standards.
  • Budgeting and Planning:
    • Support the annual budgeting and planning process by reviewing and analyzing financial plans and variances.
    • Prepare weekly check runs and review general ledger postings for accuracy.
  • Financial Management:
    • Forecast cash flow positions, borrowing needs, and available funds for investment.
    • Monitor accounts, prepare financial forecasts, and analyze financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Compliance and Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
    • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
    • Support the design of the Finance Department's organizational structure to achieve departmental goals.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of financial principles, including GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Efficiently manage financial processes, including grants and program accounting.
  • Apply Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) policies and funder requirements.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure accuracy in financial reporting, expense tracking, and compliance monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including directors, staff, and auditors.
  • Solve financial issues and optimize processes.
  • Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Lead financial processes and support team members.
  • Use financial software, including QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite, with high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work  
This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30 pm.; however, this position may require day hours and weekend work. 
 
Travel 
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. 
  
 
Education and Experience  
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution; CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, contract/grant management, or financial processing, with a focus on billing and reporting in a nonprofit environment.
 
Certification Requirements 
First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 60 days of hire. 
  
Conditions of Hire 
  • A satisfactory criminal background and reference check, a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record are required at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. 
 
 
 Physical Tasks and Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office, classroom, and in the community (such as schools, businesses, parks/playgrounds). Office and classroom work require sitting for periods of time and the use of a computer, keyboard, and screen, as well as teaching tools (whiteboard, projector, etc.). The incumbent sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, twists, climbs stairs and inclines, reaches, bends, grasps, pushes, pulls, and drags. Office/classroom work is often performed with moderate noise levels and requires the ability to focus. The incumbent must be able to move about to facilitate workshops, access files, operate equipment and office machinery, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
 
Work performed in the community requires the incumbent to be subject to different environmental conditions, including outdoor conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud noise levels. Outdoor work may require periods of walking, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, as well as peripheral vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
 
If driving a vehicle on organization business, the incumbent must be able to meet the physical requirements of the driving class and have mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.

Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Personnel Practices Manual.
