What are the responsibilities and job description for the Downtown Y, Child & Family Program Coordinator position at THE YMCA OF METROPOLITAN CHATTANOOGA?
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Coordinator supervises, develops and implements the overall daily operation of child and family programming for the Downtown branch. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in child watch area. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates Child and Family Programs to include: Child Watch, Day Camp, Birthday Parties, Miracle League, Super Skills Triathlon, Parents Night Out, Lock-ins and other family programs.
- Assist planning and facilitation of Youth Fitness Classes alongside Wellness Team.
- Coordinates staff, including assisting with hiring and scheduling.
- Supervises a group of children while adhering to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Serves as liaison with program partners.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintains accurate and timely records, including sign-in and sign-out logs.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working with children required
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability to relate well to all ages of members and program participants
- 2 years supervisory experience preferred
- Must display high degree of professionalism and customer service
