Job Summary:

The Painter Technician is responsible for all repair to vehicle surfaces to prepare for painting.  Must be experienced with spray painting equipment, power tools, and other relevant equipment.   Welding and fabricating essential equipment for vehicles such as headache racks, toolboxes, etc. is preferred.  This position is responsible for repainting vehicles that have sustained damage due to automobile accidents or acts of nature or new purchases.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the paint gun and other work equipment.
• Ability to spray single stage and base coat clear coat paint systems.
• Use primer, lacquer, resin, or other materials to paint surfaces of automotive units.
• Remove dirt or grease from vehicle surfaces and prepare the vehicle for painting.
• Prep and all surfaces to be painted.
• Determine which specific parts or pieces of a vehicle needs to be repaired or replaced.
• Remove damaged parts of the vehicle and replace them with repaired or new parts without damaging surrounding area.
• Preferred experience in welding and fabrication.
• Ability to quote labor and parts costs for jobs.
• Ability to work in a remote location / self-motivated.
• Physically demanding job that requires substantial standing, walking, stooping, bending, and other motions.

Qualifications

Competencies or Experience Requirements

• Entry level or experience with automotive body and painting.
• Two years of welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Good vision and the ability to discern colors to provide quality work.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills preferred but not required.

Education Requirement

High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
