Job Title: Finance Controller
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Chief Admin Officer (CAO)
Job Description: The Financial Controller oversees the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Reporting to the CEO and collaborating with the CAO, this role drives financial strategy, ensures fiscal accountability, and provides critical insights to departmental leaders. Responsibilities include conducting cost-benefit analyses, enforcing budget compliance, and adhering to GAAP standards. The position is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic initiatives, and fostering fiscal responsibility, ultimately contributing to the organization's efficiency and long-term growth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and corporate policies.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Supervise regulatory reporting and compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Collaborate with the CEO, CAO, and other departments to support the overall company goals and objectives.
- Evaluate contracts and major expenditures, providing financial guidance to optimize decision-making.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive operating budget to the CAO.
- Identify and assess business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
- Manage fiscal reporting activities, including sales tax, property tax, and 1099 filings.
- Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan to mitigate financial risks.
- Monitor spending, banking activities, collections, and cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Review biweekly payroll w/ Human Resources accurately and efficiently.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience as a Controller in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, payroll administration, and bookkeeping practices.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software; experience with ERP systems and QuickBooks preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and effectively.
