The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our staff. Support the implementation and execution of safety programs through the Safety Management System, working under the guidance of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager and in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering. Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and ensure that these guidelines are consistently applied across the workplace.
Responsibilities include but not limited to;
- Maintain Environmental Health and Safety standards per OSHA and S.O.P. standards.
- Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees.
- Participate in development and standardizing environmental health and safety policies.
- Participate in risk assessments.
- Conduct audits per the safety teams Audit schedule and follow up with items that do not pass to
- Correct non-compliance issues.
- Promote safety initiatives.
- · Document incidents, accidents near-miss and safety suggestions in safety database.
- Train employees on safety policies.
- Develop policies and procedures as required, utilizing the standard Therm-x SOP format.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and assessments of equipment and facilities to identify potential safety and security hazards.
- Respond to emergency situations and requests.
- Manage Laser safety program
- Respond to 6S Safety findings
- Manage Lock out Tag out policy
- Manage PPE and Respirator policies
- Report lost time injuries per OSHA and Corporate policies
- Availability to respond to emergencies and incidents as needed, including outside of standard business hours.
Desired skills;
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, etc.)
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents including Therm-x polices, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Registration as a Health and Safety Officer with OSHA.
- Strong communication skills.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in this position.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
- GHS and OSHA Hazardous communication knowledge
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be in a stationary position; move within the facilities, constantly operate computer equipment, tools, and machines, inspect surroundings and equipment, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder, communicate with others, detect odors, and transport equipment up to 30 pounds
