Summary:
Thermcraft is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Operations to spearhead the optimization and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. This pivotal role will focus on driving operational excellence, implementing strategic improvements, and ensuring the seamless execution of our diverse product lines and custom-built furnaces. The Director of Operations will be a key leader in modernizing our systems, enhancing productivity, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, all while aligning with the strategic goals of our parent corporation. This role will have direct oversight of production, engineering, and quality departments.
Essential Functions:
• Operational Leadership and Optimization:
o Lead and manage all operational aspects of manufacturing, including production planning, inventory control, quality assurance, and logistics.
o Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
o Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Process Modernization and System Implementation:
o Identify and implement modern technologies and systems to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
o Lead initiatives to improve workflow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
o Oversee the implementation and management of ERP and other manufacturing-related systems.
• Product Line Management and Quality Assurance:
o Ensure the consistent and high-quality production of Thermcraft's diverse product lines and custom-built furnaces.
o Directly oversee the quality department, implementing and maintaining robust quality control processes to meet and exceed customer expectations.
o Drive the integration between operations and engineering, ensuring design for manufacturability and efficient production transitions.
o Provide leadership and direction to the production department, ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing of engineer-to-order products.
• Team Leadership and Development:
o Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
o Lead, mentor, and develop production, engineering, and quality teams.
o Drive employee engagement and promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Strategic Alignment and Reporting:
o Work closely with senior management to align operational strategies with the overall business objectives of Thermcraft and its parent corporation.
o Provide regular reports on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
o Work closely with the financial team to contribute to budget development, and cost control.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• Eight to ten years of progressive manufacturing experience, with at least six years in an operations management role.
• Proven experience in a custom manufacturing environment with engineer-to-order expertise.
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and manage modern operational systems and technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in managing and improving quality control systems.
• Comfortable working within a strong corporate structure.
