Job Description
The Associate IP Counsel will work with R&D partners and the IP Department to support our bioproduction and biosciences. This role includes managing IP strategies and developing patent portfolios in various areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop robust patent portfolios in the areas of cell biology, cell and gene therapy, genome editing, and related fields.
- Capture strategic innovations and review invention submissions with IP Review Boards to protect Company IP and foster a culture of innovation.
- Advise collaborators on risk mitigation strategies, such as conducting freedom to operate analyses for new product launches.
- Drive revenue generation through commercial contract and licensing negotiations.
- Develop and implement focused IP strategies to support business and commercial goals.
- Educate key collaborators to protect company assets.
- Participate in IP Department initiatives, embodying a leader with vision and encouraging collaboration and teamwork.
Required Experience and Skills:
Education
- Technical degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 6 years of experience in managing global patent portfolios in cell biology, cell and gene therapy, or genome editing.
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering field preferred.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Oregon is $135,100.00–$185,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
