What will you do?
The individual will learn and demonstrate a working understanding of real-time PCR / qPCR workflows in general laboratory practice. General experience in other genetic analysis methods is an asset but not required. Successful applicants will be trained in Professional Selling Skills (PSS) which they will use as a framework to improve sales and strategic selling effectiveness. This person will grow comfortable using telephone selling skills to build customer rapport and develop consultative sales relationships. They will find opportunities to use Thermo Fisher Scientific’s products and solutions to help customers overcome problems, win orders and grow our business. Sales representatives will be asked to achieve or exceed the territory sales plan by maintaining existing business and conducting cold calls to developing incremental business in existing accounts, and prospect for new business. This individual will participate in and apply product and systems training, marketing campaigns, and special projects to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with Company philosophy, policies, and procedures. New hires will undergo a two-week on boarding period, followed by a week of selling skills training and will continue to receive further training throughout the year on an ongoing basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Attain or exceed assigned sales, profit, and market share goals while adhering to budgetary guidelines
- Make daily outbound calls to key decision-makers across various accounts
- Prospect and develop new customer relationships in the clinical laboratory space
- Expand existing clinical customers' testing menus in key areas including Pharmacogenomics, infectious disease, and oncology
- Develop genetic analysis market and product knowledge to deliver effective sales presentations
- Communicate competitor activities, market trends, and customer directions
- Implement a territory plan to grow assigned territory business
- Use data sources to analyze and develop high-ROI sales opportunities
- Support marketing programs and initiatives as assigned by the Sales Manager
- Complete tasks and reports promptly, improving efficiency during key selling times
Skills you’ll need:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry with equivalent experience – Advanced Degrees are a plus
- 1 year of sales experience preferred
- A genuine passion for making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer
- Preferably hands-on laboratory, selling, or related experience
- A goal-oriented mentality and growth mindset
- A positive outlook and ability to work within cross-functional teams

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $36.00–$49.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
