Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and customer-oriented Remote IT Help Desk Technician to provide technical support to our users. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of IT systems and tools. Awareness of security protocols, inventory control, and the ability to work from our main office is also important. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, providing guidance, and ensuring the smooth operation of user systems, all while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
This position is for a full time freelance employee/contractor with an existing background in tech support and experience helping users in remote work environments. We’re accepting applicants who are based in or around Hopewell Junction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or chat.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
- Provide step-by-step guidance to users to resolve problems effectively.
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff or specialized departments when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and solutions in the ticketing system.
- Install, configure, and update software applications remotely.
- Assist with account setup, password resets, and access permissions.
- Educate users on IT best practices and preventive measures to avoid common issues.
- Monitor system performance and provide proactive solutions to potential problems.
- Collaborate with the IT team to identify recurring issues and develop long-term solutions.
- Provide technical support for hardware and software issues, ensuring timely resolution of user inquiries.
- Maintain and monitor network systems, including servers, routers, and switches, to ensure optimal performance.
- Implement security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and protect against cyber threats.
- Assist in the deployment and configuration of new technology solutions, including cloud services and quantum computing applications.
- Conduct regular system audits to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess technology needs and develop innovative solutions.
- Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for future reference
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience with inventory management
- Proven experience in an IT support or help desk role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with networking concepts
- Must be customer service oriented
Other information
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in IT support or a similar role is advantageous.
- Familiarity with quantum engineering concepts is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
