What You’ll Do
You will be essential in ensuring that our spaces are well-maintained and inviting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Janitorial Duties: Address daily work order requests and annual work order planning
- Safety First: Attend weekly maintenance meetings and participate in monthly safety drills
- Prevent Hazards: Ensure all entrances and exits are clear to prevent slips, trips, and falls
- Inventory Management: Oversee janitorial supplies and maintain organized storage
- Collaboration with Vendors: Work with building service vendors to address maintenance needs
- Waste Management: Handle garbage and recycling throughout the facility, ensuring cleanliness in every area
- Light Maintenance: Replace light bulbs, maintain bathroom supplies, and mop gym floors as needed. Perform light electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks as needed
- Snow Removal: Clear snow from sidewalks and parking areas, applying salt or ice melt as necessary
- Furniture Assembly: Build desks, shelving, and classroom furniture, as well as beds for the shelter
- Keep spaces clean: Handle the related clean-up after maintenance and repair work
What We’re Looking For
We value teamwork, communication, and a genuine commitment to our community. To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- Experience: 2 years in maintenance/janitorial roles
- Knowledge of safe practices: familiarity with best practices and procedures are a must
- Excellent communication skills: we are a very communicative team! Bilingual candidates are preferred
- Skills: An understanding of confidentiality and resident-centered practices, can work both independently and as part of a diverse team, the ability to work with at-risk populations, a keen attention to detail, and basic math
- Physical requirements: Must be able to climb and descend stairs and stand for long periods
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, with flexibility to come in for after-hours emergencies
