We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Diet Aide to join our team.
This role involves acting as the tray starter for meals, putting dishes away, and restocking. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, pride in accuracy, and the ability to read and speak out English tray cards and diets. Some Responsibilities include:
- Light meal prep, dishwashing, and cart restocking
- Ensuring the mealtime preferences of residents are honored
- Maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation
This position is eligible for full-time benefits.
Pay Range: $16 - $20 an hour depending on experience

Job Specific Duties
- Dish Management: Put dishes away efficiently and accurately for 4 hours each day. Ensure all dishes are properly cleaned and stored.
- Tray Assembly: Act as the tray starter for the evening meal tray line. Assemble trays with special requested foods and sides.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain high standards of accuracy in all tasks. Double-check tray components to ensure correct items are included.
- Communication: Read English tray cards accurately. Clearly speak out diets as they come up during the tray assembly process.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of food items being placed on trays. Ensure all special requests are met with precision and care.
- Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the cafeteria and food preparation areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and attentive service to cafeteria patrons, assisting with inquiries, offering recommendations, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for food handling, equipment usage, and general workplace safety.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to meet operational goals and deliver high-quality service.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Asist with special projects, events, and additional tasks as needed to support the overall operations and goals.
What you will need
- Previous experience in food service, preferably in a cafeteria or similar setting.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles and sanitation procedures.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry trays, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work day shift, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
