Your Impact
The food service supervisor is committed to delivering exceptional food service in a healthcare setting. Foodservice Supervisor plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care by leading the food service team in ensuring efficient operations and adherence to health and safety standards, enhancing patient satisfaction, and managing food quality and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of food service staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
- Monitor inventory levels and ordering of food and supplies to maintain adequate stock levels while minimizing waste and controlling costs.
- Oversee food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to recipes and portion control standards.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in executing efficient and timely service, resolving customer complaints, and addressing any issues that arise during service.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining areas, kitchen, and storage areas to maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Train and enforce proper food handling procedures and safety protocols among food service staff, including handwashing, glove usage, and temperature control.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and employee morale.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inventory, staffing, and other operational activities.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and customer service excellence, leading by example and fostering a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in food service management preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service preferably in a hospital, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices, with certification in food safety (e.g., ServSafe) preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of employees.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, staff, and management.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to resolving issues and improving processes.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
- ServSafe or State Food Handlers card required.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during meal preparation and service. Lifting boxes, up to 25 pounds. Pushing/Pulling Food Hot Boxes up to 50 pounds. Bending and stooping for access to carts, food, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for the use of kitchen utensils and tools. Visual acuity for reading menus, labels, and directions. Hearing ability to respond to verbal communications. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Taste and Smell to assess food quality, freshness, and adherence to dietary requirements. Ability to distinguish colors for food presentation.
