What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Technician 2nd shift position at Thomas Foods?
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting with daily tasks of the facilities maintenance team to ensure all equipment and building systems are operating at peak efficiencies. This includes but is not limited to site fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, building safety, and facilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect and perform preventative and routine maintenance (i.e. conducting preventative maintenance check-ups or reading charts and data)
Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
Perform installation, configuration, and relocation of furniture and workstations, as needed.
Complete work orders for common areas of facility, in a timely manner maintaining high-quality standards.
Conduct minor & major repairs to equipment or facility, such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and/or painting. Diagnose and repair failures of equipment.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of the plant, production, or warehouse facilities.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
Carry out inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues.
Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to management.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout-tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Responsible for following all food safety rules, and food quality rules related to designated area.
Report any food safety, personnel safety, and/or food quality-related issues to Maintenance Management immediately.
Perform other duties as assigned by management, within scope and abilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent GED; technical school a plus
Two years of facilities maintenance experience
Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work in the area of work assigned
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to diagnose problems and find solutions
Mechanical mindset with the ability to think outside the box
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other departments
Ability to work effectively in the absence of close supervision
Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment in a safe and effective manner
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cold-temperature environment
Experience working on processing machinery in the foodservice industry a plus
Understand and abide by all safety regulations as well as policies and procedures set forth by Thomas Foods International, USA
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
Ability to work overtime, as warranted by business needs
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
