MEDICAL ASSISTANT & MEDICAL SECRETARY
Hourly Rate: $17.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday, Tues, Wed, and Friday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
Thursday 8:00am -4:00pm
Job Description: Mon, Wed, Fri: Chart preparation which includes obtaining records from referring physicians, hospitals, and radiology facilities
Schedule and confirm patient appointments
File medical records, fax medical records to referring physicians
Check patient eligibility (Availity, Medicare, UHC, etc)
Scribe and transcription of office lab procedures and office visits
Answer phones
Schedule tests
Obtain insurance authorizations and precertification for radiology procedures and surgeries
Clean patient rooms and office procedure lab room
Share cleaning of common areas including hallways, waiting room, front reception area, kitchen and restrooms with other office staff
Tues & Thurs: Scribe and transcription of office notes including histories, test results, plan of treatment, etc
The following will only occur when the nurse is not available:
Patient care including manual blood pressure checks, pulse ox, respirations, check pulses and document if palpable or if doppler signal only
Obtaining history and complaints
Assist physician with wound care and dressing changes
Call in prescriptions
Call patients with test results
Restock medical supplies and maintain inventory
Dress Code: Maintain professional appearance, Colored scrub uniform
