Thomas Rest Haven is a city owned facility celebrating 50 years of serving the residents of the Coon Rapids, IA area. This facility is a 57 bed skilled/nursing care facility that offers short or long term care, respite care, and has a Veteran's care contract. The facility also has a 12 unit assisted living attached, provides inpatient and outpatient therapy services, and has a physician's office on campus. Job Description
The Director of Nursing (DON) assists in developing and maintaining nursing service objectives and standards of nursing practice, assists in developing nursing service policies and procedures and writes job descriptions for nursing service personnel. Recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and coordinates with other departments.
The DON assists in preparation of the department budget and maintains responsibility for stock levels of supplies and adequate equipment easily and readily available.
The DON will assist in evaluation, supervision, and direction of nursing staff in providing a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to maintaining the highest level of independent function and well being for all residents of the facility.
The DON will generally be the designated person in charge of the facility upon absence of the Administrator.
Qualifications
RN/LPN graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred but not required. Current licensure as an RN/LPN in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Current CPR certification.
