FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract Days: 230 days (12 months)

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement or assist in implementing a developmental counseling and guidance program considering the school needs.
- Conduct individual counseling in areas of educational and personal need as referred by staff, family, or self-referral.
- Conduct group counseling in identified areas.
- Prepare and submit notices to parents for students who are in danger of not being promoted and for students who are deficient in credit for graduation.
- Supervise the registration of students.
- Cooperate in compiling and maintaining appropriate student records.
- Work with registration and placement of new students and schedule changes.
- Evaluate transcripts of incoming and transferring students and keep appropriate records.
- Supervise the preparation and transmittal of transcripts and other official documents relating to students.
- Serve as a resource to homeroom advisors and assist in the homeroom advisement process.
- Conduct classroom activities to support instruction, educational transitions, career paths and personal development.
- Provide information on careers and life development to students and parents.
- Assist in school-based scheduling for work-based learning students.
- Assist with administration of standardized group testing.
- Assist in analyzing test data.
- Consult and coordinate with staff, parents, and community resources.
- Assist in implementing crisis management plans.
- Participate in the MTSS process.
- Serve as a team member in planning and operation of the school.
- Supervise student elections.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Review current development, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and the ability to adapt to an extended/flexible work schedule.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for required certification - Master's or higher degree in School Counseling; proper certification as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
- Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
- Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
