Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement family engagement strategies: Create programs and initiatives to increase family involvement in the district and school community.
- Coordinate family events: Organize and facilitate school-wide and program-wide workshops (e.g. day, evening, and/or weekends) for the purpose of providing information, resources, and support to parents/guardians enhancing their overall parenting skills in the school and community.
- Build relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, students, staff, and community partners. Establish and maintain an ongoing liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet student needs; refer family and students to agencies when appropriate.
- Provide resources and support: Offer families information and resources to help them support their children's education.
- Monitor and Assess engagement: Track family participation and assess the effectiveness of engagement strategies. Assist with any necessary programmatic reports, focused around Family and Community Engagement.
- Collaborate with staff: Work with teachers, administrators, and district office personnel to integrate family engagement into the district and schools' overall strategy. Maintain ongoing contact with teaching staff through class visits, email, telephone, etc. in order to share relevant information. Maintain on-going contact with the Director of Federal Programs regarding Parent and family engagement duties and responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively: Maintain clear and consistent communication with families through various channels, i.e. phone calls, social media, newsletters, advertisements, mailings, etc.
- Support student achievement: Assist families in understanding and supporting academic standards and expectations. Assist families with transportation to school appointments as appropriate. Make home visits as needed and work with parents regarding ways in which they can help their children achieve. Actively encourage parents to participate in parent meetings, field trips, events, etc. Assist families in enhancing skills (e.g. parent education classes, ELL classes, computer and technology classes, and adult classes) for the purpose of being actively involved in their child's education. Collaborate with ELL teacher to host meetings for ELL students and families.
- Promote a welcoming environment: Ensure the school is a welcoming place for all families.
- Follow professional practices: Maintain compliance with Title I, Part A, Family and Parent Engagement requirements. Maintain a variety of records/documents (confidential and non-confidential) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or ensuring documentation for future reference in accordance with administrative and legal requirements. Assist with any necessary programmatic reports, focused around Family and Community Engagement and Title I, Part A. Adhere to school and system policies in working with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards: Follow the Code of Ethics for Educators as established by the relevant professional standards commission.
- Integrate technology: Use effective technology to enhance family engagement.
- Participate in professional development: Participate in on-going professional learning for Title I, Part A federal requirements and professional learning aimed at current trends and best practices and apply learned concepts to improve family engagement.
- Ensure safety procedures: Adhere to appropriate safety procedures during family events.
- Follow laws and policies: Comply with federal and state laws, as well as Board policies and administrative directives.
- Perform other duties as assigned: Carry out additional tasks as required.

- Required certification: Hold or be eligible for required certification.

- Physical requirements: Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Supervision: Ability to coordinate, provide technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist and build the capacity of all Title I, Part A Schools. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
