What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Marketing Coordinator position at Thomasville Tourism Commission?
Overview: The Marketing Coordinator position is a part-time, 15 – 20 hour per week position. The hours are currently 9:00AM – 5:00 PM, Monday & Friday, and can be adjusted based on the candidate. Occasional weekends (notification will be provided well in advance) required for Tourism events.
Summary: The role of the Marketing Coordinator is to work for the Director of Tourism, with the Office Manager, Bookkeeper, and the Tourism Commission Board of Directors in support of the Thomasville Tourism Commission’s mission. The Marketing Coordinator reports directly to the Tourism Director and should have professional office experience. Key duties include: management of daily operations of the Visitors Center including implementation and administration of the policies and procedures established by the Director, and Tourism Commission Board members; Managing marketing initiatives, Creating visually appealing digital and print ads, developing social media strategies to increase followers; Assists in planning and executing Tourism/Community events, and activities individually and as a team.
The Marketing Coordinator positively communicates the mission of Thomasville Tourism which is to build the community’s economy through the promotion of the Thomasville area as a visitor destination. The Marketing Coordinator must be able to wear multiple hats and conduct professional business interactions and duties independently and as part of a coordinated team. This person is expected to interact with the community, including directly in person at the Visitors Center, as well as liaise with local business owners and City officials on various projects throughout the year.

Duties: Coordinates most marketing related to the Thomasville Tourism Visitors Center. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Daily social media posts on multiple platforms
- Creation of digital and print ads
- Regularly updating digital billboard content
- Frequent website updates/changes
- Answering phone calls, addressing the need of the caller
- Responding to email inquiries in a timely manner
- Greeting and assisting visitors in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their needs
- Compiling creative, and informative e-newsletters on a weekly basis
- Participating in community events to promote and enhance the image and relationship of the Tourism office throughout Thomasville and the surrounding areas (1 -2 per quarter)
- Maintaining Tourism website, and social media platforms, to reflect current Tourism and community events, calendar, and partnership opportunities
- Creating print registration forms, marketing flyers, online volunteer signups, and online event registration forms accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintaining clean and organized office appearance, office equipment, and inventory of office supplies
- Performing other duties as needed to support tourism initiatives
Compensation: This is a permanent part-time position starting at $15.00 per hour, with potential increases based on annual reviews and demonstrated growth, experience, or expertise. This position includes 5 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PTO).
