The Role:

We’re looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and creative Summer Programs Instructor to lead a variety of youth activities that bring energy, imagination, and adventure to our summer lineup. From building crafts to hitting the trails, you’ll help shape positive experiences for youth ages 6–17 across several unique programs.
What You’ll Lead:
- Summer Camp – Movement, games, and teamwork
- Creativity Camp – Crafting, DIY projects, and artistic expression
- Day Off Discovery Camp – Four-hour themed days packed with fun
- Youth Hiking Club – Nature walks, exploration, and environmental education
- Teen Hiking Club – Challenging hikes, team building, and connection
Classes & Dates:
- Summer Camp-Tuesday/Thursday from 10am-11am & 2pm-3pm
- June 3rd-June 26th / July 8th–July 31st
- Creativity Camp- Tuesday/Thursday from 11am-12pm & 1pm-2pm
- June 3rd-June 26th / July 8th–July 31st
- Day Off Discovery Camp- Fridays from 9am-1pm
- 6/6, 6/20, 7/11, 7/25, 8/8
- Hiking Club (youth and teen)- Wednesdays from 9am-1pm
- Youth: 5/28, 6/11, 6/25, 7/9, 7/23, 8/6, 8/20, 9/3, 9/17
- Teen: 6/18, 7/16, 8/13, 9/10
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities for Summer Camp, Creativity Camp, Day Off Discovery Camp, and Hiking Clubs.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Supervise and manage groups of 6 to 17 youth participants during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Facilitate themed camps and hiking outings with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Communicate clearly with parents, participants, and TRPR staff.
- Ensure proper setup and cleanup of activity spaces and equipment.
- Monitor participant behavior and safety, addressing any issues calmly and appropriately.
- Maintain attendance records and report any incidents or injuries according to TRPR protocols.
- Adapt activities as needed to accommodate different skill levels, interests, and weather conditions.
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting teamwork, creativity, and respect among participants.
- Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator or supervisor.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Current CPR & First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or the ability to obtain such certification prior to employment start date.
- Previous experience working with children or teens in a camp, classroom, or recreational setting.
- Strong leadership and group management skills.
- Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic about engaging youth in both structured and unstructured activities.
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain (especially for Hiking Club).
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining responsibility for group safety and program flow.
- Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and be physically active for extended periods

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands to hold, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with hands and arms in performance of duties. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires a high level of physical ability including standing for long periods, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, walking, stretching etc.
Environmental Considerations:
May require indoor and outdoor activities and exposures to the elements. The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud. May be required to utilize cleaning materials and have contact with various chemicals for duties such as mopping and/or sanitizing high contact areas including doors, equipment, and workstation.
