SUMMARY: Performs a variety of outdoor maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to: maintain, repair, construct and/or install landscape elements such as turf, seeding, fertilization, weed control, mowing, trees, fences, small irrigation system projects, snow removal, operation and maintenance of equipment, playground equipment, surfacing, synthetic turf, concrete, asphalt, signage and drainage. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and maintains athletic fields, tracks and district property. Prepares and maintains landscaping elements including natural turf, synthetic turf, trees, shrubs, etc. Performs duties such as; laying sod, sod removal, seeding, aerating grass, mowing, lawn edging, small irrigation system projects, weed and grass trimming, maintaining and trimming of trees and bushes, stump removal. Weed control including the application of selective and non-selective herbicides and fertilizers. Works
- Operates light/heavy trucks with trailers. Operates equipment such as; backhoe, trencher, loader, skid steer, tractors, bucket truck, platform lifts, forklift, and roller.
- Schedules daily work utilizing the work order system. Tracks hours, materials, and work completed on the work order system.
- Assembles, repairs and installs fences and gates. Responsible for repair, installation, and maintenance of signs and sign posts. Maintains and repairs flag poles.
- Install, inspect, repair and maintain playground equipment and surfacing.
- Prepares and marks athletic fields for events. Performs minor maintenance on athletic field marking equipment.
- Responsible for repair and maintenance of asphalt parking lots, concrete curbing, flat surfaces, and retaining walls. Assures safety and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act throughout the district; includes assurance that concrete and pathways to the buildings are clear and safe allowing for access to and from the buildings \ sites.
- Performs snow removal as required (shoveling and/or using a truck with plow or other equipment). Delivers ice melt products. Applies ice melt products to road and walk ways.
- Removes and/or covers up graffiti.
- As related to area of expertise, review plans and technical guidelines and inspect work performed by contractors and other district employees to ensure district standards are met.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITY:
- Ability to perform working tasks in high areas in a bucket truck (example 50 ft. high in a bucket truck trimming trees).
- Ability to mathematically lay out athletic fields.
- Operating knowledge of heavy equipment, backhoe, bucket truck, loader and power tools preferred at hire, required within 90 days.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Two or more years of experience in related field. Experience with irrigation systems required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Colorado Class B Driver’s License. Class A CDL license upon hire desirable must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire. National Playground Safety Institute safety inspection certificate preferred at hire, required within 9 months from date of hire.

- In order to safely perform this position, the employee must be familiar with the safety rules of the job and participate in all safety training provided by the department. Employee must wear personal protective equipment whenever required, ask for assistance if the task requires more than one person and, if unsure how to perform a task safely, stop and ask supervisor for instruction before continuing.
- All employees of the District are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work place and ensuring that safety precautions and practices are followed.
- Employees are expected to immediately report any unsafe working conditions or safety problems to the immediate supervisor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock, working at height; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
