Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our projects. This position requires extensive experience in construction estimation, particularly in single-family residential projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of construction processes, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Estimate Preparation: Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for single-family residential construction projects. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to prepare comprehensive estimates and bill of materials.
  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate and analyze project costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes. Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and ensure all aspects of the project are complete.
  • Bid Management: Review related bidding estimation documents and ensure all construction aspects are accurately addressed and coordinating as intended.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about current market trends, material costs, and industry best practices. Adjust estimates based on market fluctuations and changes in project scope.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, change orders, and project correspondence as well as processes and their maintenance and continual improvement. Prepare and present detailed reports on cost estimates and project budgets. Continued process development and improvement with estimation operating procedures.
  • Quality Control: Review plan estimates for accuracy and completeness. Implement and oversee best practices for cost estimation to ensure consistency and reliability in all estimates.
  • Value Engineering: Evaluate current and future products to ensure cost effectiveness design efficiency. Regular review of estimate vs. actual quantities to ensure accuracy of budget estimates as well as minimizing material waste.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather best practices and insights into plan development and detail execution from design to takeoffs to bidding and construction.

Qualifications:

 

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on single-family residential new construction. Proven track record of successful project estimations and bid management. Management experience as a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credentials are a plus.


Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and cost factors.
    • Preferred Rock Solid understanding of the single-family homebuilding industry and associated building codes, regulatory environment, and general construction processes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., BlueBeam, Softplan, RSMeans, ProEst).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
  • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and propose effective solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time in-office position with standard office hours. Flexibility may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Option to hybrid work remote after successful onboarding completion: Required successful minimum 1 year in office prior to discussing option of hybrid work remote change.
  • May require local travel for sub-contractor or vendor negotiation meetings.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
