Position Type: Full-Time (Beginning 2025-2026 School Year)
The Concord Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to lead the Intensive Learning Program (ILP) at Thoreau Elementary School. This is a district-wide, self-contained classroom designed to support elementary students with moderate to severe special needs, including global language, cognitive, and social deficits. The ILP provides a full-day program with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) supports as necessary.
Responsibilities:
* Modify elementary curriculum standards as appropriate to meet the needs of students with significant disabilities.
* Integrate skills-based instruction into the daily program.
* Supervise and provide guidance to paraprofessionals to ensure effective classroom support.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists (OT), physical therapists (PT), speech-language pathologists, and a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA), to deliver a cohesive and individualized program.
* Utilize ABA methodologies and strategies as needed to support student success.
* Develop and maintain strong written and verbal communication with families, colleagues, and service providers.
Qualifications:
* A Massachusetts teaching license in Severe Disabilities is required.
* A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
* Experience with ABA programs is highly desirable.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
