Our GORGEOUS Residential Campus, located in the Historic District of Clinton, SC, is close to both the beach and mountains, just a short drive to Greenville, Columbia, Charlotte or Atlanta! Our historic buildings, agritourism farm with annual festivals, full recreational facilities (plus local YMCA membership), on-site Charter School, tutoring services, and spiritual development activities make Thornwell the perfect place to call home!
We have nine cottages (serving 6-8 placed children of the same gender and age range) with four staff members/two couples per cottage working 8 days-on/6 days-off to allow consistency for children, and adequate work-life balance for staff. All cottages have private staff quarters, and there is 24/7 support, so you are never on your own!
Our house parents, caring for DSS and privately placed youth, are a key component of Thornwell’s Milieu Therapy approach to care. The emphasis of our program is on Adoption and Relative Caregiver Stabilization and Preservation, utilizing trauma-informed, attachment-focused models of care. This position requires compassion and understanding for youth, and the ability to balance nurture and structure in daily work.
