What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title Legal Assistant position at Thoroughbred Title Services?
This position provides legal support and coordination of settlement documents. Assists General Counsel and legal department to ensure a smooth closing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Common job activities are listed below; actual position responsibilities may vary. Refer to your manager or human resources for specific duties and performance expectations.
- Provide support to the legal/clearance department related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. [50%]
- Review files and follow up on open clearance matters with necessary parties, lenders, and attorneys. [10%]
- Provide proactive communication with attorneys regarding title matters requiring attention prior to closing. [15%]
- Review closing documents for accuracy and completeness. [20%]
- Provides support for other departments/functions in the title process including, but not limited to typing, survey closing, recording and escrow. [5%]

Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of high school diploma or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have experience in title insurance, real estate, or a related industry, but we are willing to train the right person.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Exceptional computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, upbeat and flexible attitude
- Excellent communication skills and professional phone presence
- Outstanding organization, time management and multi-tasking skills to handle a large volume of emails and calls and work under pressure of deadlines and time constraints.
- Extremely dependable, reliable and possess a strong work ethic
- Capacity to quickly assess situations and make decisions.
- Ability to organize, analyze and distribute information.
- Must be able to spot and address irregularities or issues.
- Ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with practices, procedures, and concepts within the title insurance industry.
- Familiarity with closing documents such as, Deeds, Mortgages, Affidavits, Policies, etc.
Other (licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel, etc.):
- This is an on-site position with the potential for a hybrid schedule at management’s discretion.
Wage: $21.00 - $24.15 hourly; actual wage is based upon education and experience. Potential for annual discretionary bonus.
