What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery?
Thoroughbred Wellness and Recovery is a dedicated substance use treatment provider offering detox and residential services. We are seeking a Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) to play a vital role in ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for individuals in recovery. We are hiring for evening and overnight shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision, engagement, and support to clients in detox and residential settings.
- Conduct safety checks, monitor behaviors, and document observations accurately.
- Facilitate group activities, recovery-based exercises, and therapeutic sessions as directed.
- Respond promptly to crisis situations, behavioral escalations, and medical emergencies using de-escalation techniques.
- Work collaboratively with clinical, nursing, and medical staff to support individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with all facility policies.
- Provide transportation in company vehicles for clients.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in mental health, substance use treatment, behavioral health, or crisis intervention preferred.
- License: Valid driver's license with no DUIs in the past 5 years and no more than three moving violations in the past 3 years.
- Certifications: CPR, de-escalation/restraint training (provided if needed); Peer Support, Recovery Coach, or Behavioral Health Technician certification a plus.
- Skills: Strong communication, crisis intervention, and teamwork abilities.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site in a 24/7 facility (weekend and holiday coverage required).
- Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs).
