The primary responsibility of the Portfolio Analyst will be managing the bank’s loan portfolio and assisting with timely identification of problem credits. The person in this role will take a proactive approach to understanding the entirety of the bank’s loan portfolio, effectively identifying credits that need attention, implementing appropriate processes for risk monitoring, and undertaking ongoing review and assessment to ensure satisfactory portfolio performance and reporting. The Portfolio Analyst will be an integral part of the bank’s credit risk management function.

This role will typically be performed in an office-based setting. The noise level in the work environment(s) is relatively quiet. Some travel to Bank HQ in Nashville will be required.

Essential Duties
- Organization and ongoing maintenance of credit files.
- Serving as a point of contact for certain lending partnerships.
- Ensuring timely receipt of required financial information and corresponding covenant compliance for certain commercial credits.
- Collecting and analyzing financial and related data to determine specific credit health.
- Completing annual financial and risk rating reviews on commercial credits in the portfolio.
- Completing and documenting loan modifications along with appropriate updates to the loan file including updating risk grades and financial statement analysis.
- Assisting with quarterly analysis of embedded banking partners.
- Assisting with annual reviews of loan origination partners.
- Dedicated liaison for bank examiners and auditors for credit file sharing.
- Monitoring loan repayment activities and coordinating necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.
- Ensuring timely and proactive downgrades of credits that show defined signs of weakness or deterioration and elevating these changes to the SCO and CCO.
- Developing an in-depth knowledge of the overall loan portfolio.
- Monitoring and communication of adverse trends within the loan portfolio to the SCO and CCO.
- Onboarding of new loans.
- Preparing and delivering reports on credit portfolio performance statistics.
- Assisting in building effective portfolio management processes.
- Understanding and addressing shortfalls in the bank’s current approach to portfolio management.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of bank operating and credit policies and procedures that impact how the portfolio is managed.
- Assisting the SCO and CCO in various projects that arise, including implementation of new loan management system.
- 3-5 years of experience managing a loan portfolio (experience in consumer and commercial is preferred).
- Must be able to conduct routine financial statement analysis of business financials, tax returns, and personal financial statements.
- Must be able to summarize credit performance in a written format accompanying financial spreads.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to understand the issues of loan customers and employees.
- Ability to consistently make timely and sound recommendations to management while ensuring bank policies and procedures are met.
- Must be detail oriented and have a high level of ownership and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Proficient In Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel.
- Possess basic mathematical skills and understanding basic mathematical methodologies used in budgeting, accounting, and investment performance calculations.
- Dependable and exhibit a strong work ethic.
