Job description
Position Summary:
- Stocks, straightens, and cleans Liquor Store.
- Assists customers, checks purchaser age, and rings up orders in liquor store with separate entrance and gated access.
- Schedules and supervises team members within Liquor Department.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Follows merchandising standards and practices.
- Aligns product, collects and returns stray items, stocks to maintain high product levels.
- Rotates merchandise.
- Checks for accurate signage.
- Hangs and replaces computer generated product signs.
- Uses box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
- Stocks opened cases on shelves.
- Moves and positions pallets of merchandise using manual pallet jack.
- Stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
- Communicates with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
- Writes list of products to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stocking.
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
- Answers phones, directs customers to product, and assists customers with product information.
- Checks photo identification to verify legal purchase age for anyone purchasing alcohol or tobacco products.
- Rings up orders.
- Receives payment, makes change, processes checks, credit, EBT, and debit charges.
- Cleans liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
- Stocks supplies, empties trash, and operates trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Works with vendors to ensure proper order quantities and rotation.
- Project sales and schedule labor to comply with established and/or directed standards.
Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Assists in other departments of the store as necessary.
- Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Age and certification as required by local law
- Customer service skills preferred.
- Training as required by local law.
Skills:
- Operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, cardboard baler, electronic order gun.
Abilities:
- Continuous standing
- Frequent bending, reaching at/below shoulders
- Occasionally walking, squatting, reaching above shoulders
- Ability to read labels, receipts, checks.
- Field of vision to avoid carts merchandise, and other people in confined area.
- Hearing required to converse with customers and team members.
- Continuously lift/carry up to 20 pounds at waist/chest level.
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds below waist or at waist/chest level.
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds above shoulder.
- Continuously grasp with less than 8# force, pushing/pulling with hands, repetitive hand motions.
- Occasionally grasp with more than 8# of force, frequent fine finger manipulation.
