Job Summary: The accounting manager is responsible for recording cash receipts and disbursement transactions, maintain salary and benefit allocations to the organization’s grants and programs and serves as a liaison with ADP for processing payroll. The ideal candidate must be well versed in QuickBooks , MicroSoft Office Suite products and able to multi- task and meet established deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Accounting:
Maintain accurate financial records.
Responsible for the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Enter credit card transactions and documentation to support proper use of the credit card.
Reconcile the monthly credit card statement.
Remit employee 401(k) payments to VOYA.
Maintain the fixed assests schedule.
Tracks vendor compliance with contractual terms.
Reviews payroll for accuracy of employee punches and reasonableness of time charged for processing.
Participates in the monthly close process
Prepares annual 1099 filing
Maintains allocation of employee benefit and salary expenses to the organization’s programs.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasting financial performance.
Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for financial efficiency.
Work with leadership to develop financial strategies to sustain and grow the organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA certification (preferred but not required).
2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and Form 990.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Blackbaud, or similar).
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
