Family Peer Recovery Specialist
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Part-Time (.5 FTE), Non-Exempt
Salary: $23/hour
Location: Hybrid – Eagan, MN (3 days a week in person)

Thrive! Family Recovery Resources (Thrive) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing hope, help, and healing to families impacted by substance use disorder. Using evidence-based practices, we empower families through support, education, and compassionate care.
About the Role
Thrive is seeking a Family Peer Recovery Specialist (FPRS) to provide non-clinical, peer-based support to families in Minnesota. This part-time role (20 hours per week) requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to accommodate community needs and events. Thrive provides all necessary training to equip you for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Family Peer Recovery Support:
- Build meaningful and trusting relationships with family members based on shared experiences.
- Support family members in identifying their immediate needs and goals while developing a personalized recovery plan.
- Connect families with recovery resources, such as support groups, organizations, and educational materials.
- Serve as a role model and coach, empowering families to advocate for themselves and their loved ones.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Thrive’s client management system.
- Answer Thrive’s Helpline as needed to provide compassionate support and guidance.
- Participate in Thrive team meetings and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Lead educational workshops, providing families with tools, skills, and knowledge related to substance use disorder and recovery.
Community Outreach & Public Engagement:
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in Minnesota’s recovery ecosystem.
- Act as an ambassador for Thrive’s services and programs in the seven-county metro and surrounding areas.
- Represent Thrive at events, such as Recovery Walks, Overdose Awareness Day, and local conferences.
- Establish and lead Thrive Family Support Group meetings in the community, recruiting and mentoring local successors to sustain these efforts.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with building and maintaining Thrive’s repository of community resources.
- Attend required trainings, professional development opportunities, and Thrive events.
- Support other Thrive programs and services as needed.
Qualifications
- Lived experience supporting a loved one with substance use challenges; preference for those with experience as a caregiver to a child with problematic substance use.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills; ability to lead workshops and engage audiences effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and database systems.
- Ability to work independently, make ethical decisions, and remain flexible under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel within the region; must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance.
