Production Supervisor: 3rd Shift 6:00pm-6:00am - Thursday-Saturday Alternating Wednesdays
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily production operations. This role ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing processes by monitoring employees and optimizing workflows. In a fast-paced production environment, the supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position collaborates with the Floor Supervisor to manage personnel and coordinate activities that align with safety, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Floor Oversight
Supervise production employees to ensure safe and efficient product processing while meeting production output, quality, safety, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation standards.
Gain and apply knowledge of the freeze-drying process and its implications for product handling.
Operate production and packaging equipment as needed.
Complete and review production paperwork across all departments.
Assist with workforce scheduling, shift assignments, and staffing needs.
Recommend and implement process or equipment improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
Minimize rework and product damage due to handling and processing.
Assign tasks, troubleshoot operational issues, and take corrective action.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of production reports, including weight and lot traceability.
Collaborate with other departments to enhance product quality and plant efficiency.
Provide hands-on support in production processes when necessary.
Train employees on specific tasks to reduce workplace injuries and enhance safety awareness.
Enforce machinery and equipment safety protocols.
Ensure employees comply with sanitation and product handling standards.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Employee Engagement & Development
Assist in onboarding and training new employees.
Foster a positive and engaging work environment through consistent communication and interaction with employees.
Provide training and coaching to employees for skill development and performance improvement.
Lead by example in professionalism, hygiene, behavior, and workspace organization.
Address and manage employee concerns or performance issues effectively.
Administrative & Office Responsibilities
Organize and maintain weekly and monthly employee schedules.
Conduct daily employee huddles and monthly department meetings.
Track daily attendance and maintain accurate records.
Oversee weekly payroll review and submission.
Utilize Microsoft Office Suite for daily administrative tasks.
Handle employee reviews, one-on-ones, disciplinary actions, and incident reporting.
Input production reports into the inventory database (Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
High School Diploma required; college degree in a technical, engineering, or related field preferred.
2-3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred).
Prior supervisory experience required.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of HACCP and GMP guidelines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
