Overview
The Wildland Firefighter plays a crucial role in protecting natural resources, communities, and infrastructure from the threat of wildfires. This position involves working in challenging environments and requires a high level of physical fitness, teamwork, and dedication. Wildland Firefighters are responsible for responding to fire emergencies, conducting fire suppression activities, and ensuring safety protocols are followed during operations.

Duties

  • Respond to wildland fire incidents and assist in fire suppression efforts.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and tools effectively and safely.
  • Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks as required.
  • Monitor vital signs of team members during operations to ensure health and safety.
  • Provide first aid and basic life support as needed during emergencies.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for controlling fires.
  • Conduct assessments of fire behavior and environmental conditions.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are operational and ready for deployment.
  • Participate in training exercises to enhance firefighting skills and knowledge.

Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge for the maintenance and operation of firefighting equipment.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently throughout shifts.
  • Proficiency in monitoring vital signs to assess the health of team members.
  • Certification in first aid and basic life support to provide immediate care when necessary.
  • Commercial driving skills may be required for operating larger firefighting vehicles.
  • CPR certification is essential for responding to medical emergencies on-site.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about protecting the environment, have strong teamwork skills, and are prepared for the physical demands of firefighting.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $46.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 80 – 100 per week
