This is a pivotal role that offers close collaboration with the Portfolio Manager and oil trading team to provide global market insights as well as support key commercial decisions. You will work at the intersection of market analysis and modeling, challenging commercial assumptions around oil products whilst collaborating with desk engineers and analysts to enhance modeling capabilities across the oil ecosystem, with a direct impact on PnL.
This position is ideal for individuals with deep oil market knowledge who are eager to combine fundamental analysis and programming skills while making a commercial impact in a high-value role.
Your role:
- Perform thorough fundamental analysis of global oil markets, including supply and demand dynamics and geopolitical factors.
- Build, enhance, and maintain advanced Python models to forecast market trends and price movements in the oil sector.
- Stay informed on global oil market developments, including news, regulations, and new data sources, and incorporate key insights into models and analysis.
Experience/skills required:
- Must come from a Quantitative background - includes degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science and Physics.
- Hands-on experience in the North American Oil market, either within the industry or in an advisory role.
- Programming proficiency in Python.
- High GPA/ 1st Class Hons degree.
- Proven track record of meeting challenging objectives.
