The salary for this position is: $4,669.00 - $6,210.00 monthly

Thurston County Medic One is seeking to fill a Purchasing Specialist position to support the county-wide Medic One program. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for providing a full range of purchasing, general accounting, administrative and technical support to the Medic One program.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Assist with invoice processing related to inventory control.

· Medical supply inventory management

· Capital asset management.

· Researching and procurement of medical supplies for the county-wide Emergency Medical Service program.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Work Environment – Work is conducted in an office environment and may be conducted in various field locations throughout the county. Lifting and carrying of materials, equipment or other items weighing up to 40 lbs. may be required on a frequent basis.

· Schedule – Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm (Incumbent may frequently be required to work extended hours or non-standard work week).

· Customer Interactions – Daily interactions with fire agencies and other county departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED and one year of college level coursework in office support, general business, or another closely related field.

WA State Driver’s license.

Three years of general office experience, with at least two years in a senior level office support position which includes experience independently coordinating projects and creating complex documents and reports. Additional experience may substitute college education year for year.

DESIRED SKILLS:

One year of public health/medical field experience, preferably related to Emergency Medical Services (EMS), with a basic understanding of medical terminology and prehospital services. Possess valid Washington State EMS evaluator certification.
