TIAG is hiring a Business Analyst to join our team in support of a long-standing engagement with the Air Force Medical Command (AFMEDCOM). For this effort, TIAG is part of a multi-company team providing audit and data support services to AFMEDCOM. This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to report on-site to Fort Detrick, MD, a minimum of three times a week.
For over 10 years, TIAG has provided enduring support to AFMEDCOM and Air Force Medical Logistics. In this specific effort, analysts provide direct data and consulting support to a variety of mission-critical initiatives within the division. In addition to providing data call support to existing Congressional audit data requests, the Business Analyst will support sustainment of existing manpower calculations, provide data analyses of proposed business process improvements, and analyze the posture and manpower needs of Air Force War Reserve Materiel to optimize global medical readiness.
A successful candidate will have had previous data, operations, or logistics experience within a Department of Defense setting. The candidate will be detail-oriented, fluent in Microsoft Excel, and have experience in every phase of the data analytics lifecycle—from data collection through cleaning, analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with government stakeholders to understand their needs and gather detailed business requirements.
- Analyzing Air Force Medical Logistics business processes, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and generating insights and developing strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Developing and documenting analytic findings and business process models to illustrate current and future states.
- Proposing, designing, testing, and validating technical and process solutions that meet mission needs and objectives.
- Developing and maintaining reporting tools.
- Performing all data analysis lifecycle tasks from data discovery to analysis and through modeling and interpretation.
- Working with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and ensure they align with mission goals.
- Communicating findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and AFMEDCOM leadership.
- Creating detailed documentation of business requirements, processes, and solutions. Developing formal deliverables (status reports, visual analysis, research outcomes).
- Identifying potential project risks and issues and implementing effective strategies to mitigate them.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Abilities:
- Bachelors (or equivalent) in a relevant field like mathematics, data analytics or science, or supply chain management.
- Previous analytics experience within the DoD, ideally with the US Air Force.
- Willingness to become knowledgeable of Air Force Medical Logistics policies, procedures, and processes.
- Strong analytics and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and write clearly and create appealing visual content.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and deliver projects within specified timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work remotely and support a geographically distributed customer.
- This position may necessitate a government security clearance, so US or Naturalized Citizenship is required.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience providing medical readiness support, particularly on behalf of the US Air Force.
- Experience working in other analytic products or languages like SAS products, SQL, Power BI, etc.
- Experience with business process modeling and documentation tools like Visio or Lucidchart.
- Lean Six Sigma training and/or certification.
- Experience with technical writing.
Work Location and Travel:
- This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to report to Fort Detrick at least three days a week.
- Limited travel to War Reserve Materiel inventory locations or customer meetings may be required based on customer demand.
- Non-local travel is reimbursable up to approved government thresholds.
