Position Overview
The Director of Finance and Accounting is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization. This role encompasses directing the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting operations to ensure compliance, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals. The Director serves as a key advisor to the executive team, providing financial insights and recommendations that drive informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational objectives.
- Oversee long-term financial planning and assess investment opportunities.
- Provide leadership in financial forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Accounting and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead audits, both internal and external, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Operations and Reporting
- Manage the accounting team, ensuring high performance and adherence to policies.
- Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Provide regular and ad-hoc financial reports to the executive team.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Collaborate with department heads to align financial processes with operational goals.
- Act as a financial liaison to external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and investors.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- Proven track record of strategic financial management in a manufacturing or related industry.
- Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Expertise in financial planning, modeling, and forecasting.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
