This newly created position will be joining our small finance team to take ownership for Accounts Payable. This position will report to our Accounting Manager. Our goal is to find a finance professional that is interested in learning and growing with a company. Someone that is excited about being a part of creating a foundation for the department – and developing and implementing new processes and protocols to support our growth. This position will collaborate across multiple departments within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain vendor records (W9, certificate of insurance, contract) and add new vendors to QBO
- Review vendor invoices and receipts for appropriate approval and documentation (research invoices/receipts as needed), General Ledger account coding, and entry into QBO
- Review credit card and bank transactions to record in QBO with appropriate General Ledger account and Budget coding.
- Review Rent and Utilities accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
- Process weekly check run and online payments
- Assist in processing annual 1099s for vendors
- Train employees across departments on proper General Ledger accounts for expenses
- Cross train in Accounts Receivable to serve as backup and assist as needed
- Maintain organized accounting files and records
- Able to handle confidential information in professional manner and has strong understanding of the requirement of discretion inherent in the position
- Miscellaneous projects and administrative duties as assigned
- Assist with monthly reporting, including but not limited to prepaid expense schedules, accrued expense schedules, accounts payable reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and spend analysis/trend reporting.
Qualifications:
This position is perfect for a detail-oriented “doer” that is adaptable and thinks quickly on their feet. Specific characteristics and background we are looking for are:
- Associates or Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent additional work experience)
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Google G-suite
- Knowledgeable in GAAP accounting principles
- Self-directed with excellent organizational skills and high standard of attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and a sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
- Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives
- Desire for continuous improvement and identifying areas for process improvement.
