Payroll Manager
Tiff’s Treats is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee and manage all payroll-related functions, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for over 1,600 employees across multiple states. This is a full-time, on-site position based at our corporate headquarters in Austin, TX. This role is a key part of the Finance and HR departments, responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, compliance, and reporting. The Payroll Manager will report to the VP of Accounting and play a vital role in supporting financial accuracy, compliance, and decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely execution.
- Conduct thorough payroll reviews and maintain strong internal controls.
- Manage the daily payroll inbox, addressing employee inquiries, processing transfer and promotion tasks, and ensuring prompt responses.
- Administer payroll deductions, reimbursements, and wage garnishments in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Provide support for payroll audits, including payroll, 401(k), and related areas.
- Administer and manage benefits deductions effectively.
- Perform monthly audits of payroll and HR reports and processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll errors promptly.
- Conduct miscellaneous payroll and timekeeping investigations and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Manage quarterly and annual payroll tax compliance for all states where employees are based.
- Oversee proper payroll tax filings and payments in collaboration with the payroll processor.
- Monitor and respond to state communications regarding wage compliance and audits.
- Generate payroll reports for leadership, including overtime reporting and labor cost analysis.
- Develop, process, and maintain protocols for unclaimed property compliance.
- Lead payroll and 401(k)-related audits, including external vendor audits and regulatory filings such as Form 5500.
- Coordinate with 401(k) vendors and the payroll processing team to ensure accurate and efficient administration.
- Work closely with Finance and HR to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with government reporting requirements.
- Maintain payroll systems and tools, ensuring accurate data flow and functionality.
- Support additional payroll-related projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of payroll processing and management experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including formulas and data manipulation.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience handling multi-state payroll compliance.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and software.
Preferred:
- Experience with Fidelity, Paycor, and Sage Intacct Plus.
- Familiarity with Asana for project tracking.
- Knowledge of 401(k) administration and payroll audits.
