Aircraft Propeller Painter
Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aircraft Propeller Painter to join our aviation maintenance team. The Aircraft Propeller Painter will be responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aircraft propellers in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer specifications. This role is crucial for maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of aircraft propellers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Propellers:
- Inspect and clean aircraft propellers to remove dirt, debris, and old paint coatings.
- Mask and tape areas of the propeller that should not be painted.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, priming, or applying other necessary treatments.
- Painting and Finishing:
- Apply paint, primer, and coatings to aircraft propellers using spray guns or manual techniques.
- Ensure a smooth and uniform finish while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Select and mix appropriate paints and coatings based on the propeller's materials and manufacturer requirements.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as uneven coating or air bubbles.
- Perform touch-ups and re-coating as necessary to meet quality standards.
- Ensure that all work complies with aviation safety standards and regulations.
- Safety and Maintenance:
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during painting and prepping processes.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations and paint equipment.
- Keep accurate records of all painting activities, materials used, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other maintenance and engineering teams to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff to report any issues or delays.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Proven experience in aircraft propeller painting or other related painting/finishing fields (preferably in aviation or automotive industries).
- Knowledge of aircraft painting procedures and materials is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of work.
- Proficiency in using spray equipment, hand tools, and painting techniques.
- Understanding of paint mixing, coating materials, and application processes.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
- Certifications:
- Valid FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certification or equivalent in aviation maintenance is a plus.
- OSHA safety certification or equivalent is beneficial.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or propellers of varying sizes and weights.
- Capability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
