Title Intervention Specialist, K-12 Location NCOESC service area Reports To Direct Supervisor Scheduled Days As per employment contract / Full time FLSA Status Exempt Job Summary North Central Ohio ESC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to support students with various learning disabilities and behaviors. This role focuses on providing individualized instruction, implementing intervention and behavior plans-if needed, and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. Complies with state and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students
  • Collaborate with related services, general education teachers, and other staff as needed to adapt and differentiate curriculum and instruction
  • Encourages a full range of intervention options. Reviews intervention strategies with teachers and staff
  • Facilitates self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
  • Provide targeted interventions and support to address academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and compliance with state and Federal regulations
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration to ensure a cohesive support system for students
  • Support students in accessing grade-level content aligned with Ohio Learning Standards
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities
  • Collaborates with staff to implement individual behavior plans as needed
  • Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct
  • Charts behaviors as required
  • Develop and maintain a positive learning environment Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching License to teach children with disabilities in appropriate grand band assigned
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; including strong interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence
  • Preferred experience with diverse populations, including those with disabilities and emotional disturbance
  • Proficiency with use of technology hardware and basic software (i.e., Microsoft office), email, and office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Proficiency with web-based applications (i.e., Google Docs, DEWs website, social media, etc.), and
  • NCOESC databases
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of student information and records
  • May require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, CPI and/or behavioral management training or other training as needed Clearances Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • The performance of this job requires constant talking, and hearing, engagement in repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. This job requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
  • Performance of primary duties takes place in a school environment with occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions including extreme heat & cold, temperature changes, wetness, humidity, noise, and hazards. Frequent light to moderate physical effort required.
