Job Summary
North Central Ohio ESC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to support students with various learning disabilities and behaviors. This role focuses on providing individualized instruction, implementing intervention and behavior plans-if needed, and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. Complies with state and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students
Collaborate with related services, general education teachers, and other staff as needed to adapt and differentiate curriculum and instruction
Encourages a full range of intervention options. Reviews intervention strategies with teachers and staff
Facilitates self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
Provide targeted interventions and support to address academic, social, and emotional needs
Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and compliance with state and Federal regulations
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration to ensure a cohesive support system for students
Support students in accessing grade-level content aligned with Ohio Learning Standards
Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities
Collaborates with staff to implement individual behavior plans as needed
Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct
Charts behaviors as required
Develop and maintain a positive learning environment
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching License to teach children with disabilities in appropriate grand band assigned
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; including strong interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence
Preferred experience with diverse populations, including those with disabilities and emotional disturbance
Proficiency with use of technology hardware and basic software (i.e., Microsoft office), email, and office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Proficiency with web-based applications (i.e., Google Docs, DEWs website, social media, etc.), and NCOESC databases
Ability to preserve confidentiality of student information and records
May require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, CPI and/or behavioral management training or other training as needed
Clearances Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
The performance of this job requires constant talking, and hearing, engagement in repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. This job requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
Performance of primary duties takes place in a school environment with occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions including extreme heat & cold, temperature changes, wetness, humidity, noise, and hazards. Frequent light to moderate physical effort required.
