Entry Level Staff Engineer- Transportation/ Traffic

As an Entry-Level Staff Engineer, you will join our Transportation Team in either our Middletown, CT or Shelton, CT office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. With nearly 100 professionals, we work on projects that shape the future of transportation across the Northeast, collaborating with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients to make travel safer and more accessible. Whether it’s designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking.   

What You’ll Be Doing

• Playing a key role in reporting, including traffic impact and parking studies, design, functional design, and design exceptions
• Assisting with the preparation of contract documents, bid documents, technical specifications, and quantity/cost estimates
• Observing and inspecting construction projects, including traffic, parking, and roadway improvements for clients 

What You Will Need 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Relevant experience through internships in surveying, engineering design, permitting, consulting, or construction observation 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Eagerness to learn, intellectually curious, self-motivated, and excellent organizational skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or SolidWorks 
• Completed FE or E.I.T. certification or planning to complete it by graduation 
• 2 or more years of relevant internship or full-time experience

• Entry Level Staff Engineer- Transportation Engineering salaries range from $60,249 to $83,243, based on skills and experience 
• Bachelor’s degree salary is $75,088 and master’s degree salary is $79,248
