What you will do:
The Logistics Coordinator performs transportation and distribution processes that maximize pick-up and delivery efficiency while optimizing transportation costs for TCCA freight utilizing both the private fleet and contract carriers. Ensures that sale orders, transfer orders and purchase orders are scheduled, dispatched, and arrive on time to the appropriate destinations in the expected quantity and quality.
Here’s a day in the life:
Monitor the unassigned orders for specific locations and build them into efficient truck loads via the TMS.
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the transportation department.
Schedule and coordinate the activities of the TCCA drivers.
Ensure orders are dispatched so that they can meet pickup and delivery dates as written.
Ensure the appropriate carriers are assigned via the TMS for each load keeping cost and service as primary focus.
Work with our carrier partners in a professional and appropriate manner.
Schedule the delivery and backhaul of products throughout our transportation network.
Work with other departments, including customer service, planning, manufacturing and procurement so that all pick-up and delivery needs are met in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Schedule delivery and pick-up appointments as needed.
Review quality concerns of shipments rejected by consignees and request guidance as necessary.
Notify carriers of pending claims timely as well as filing said carrier claims (including the NCR submission).
Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
High School Diploma or GED required.
College degree preferred.
3 years of transportation experience is required.
3 years of experience in a TMS program preferred.
Office administration experience is required.
Customer service experience is preferred.
Proficient in office procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, trucking companies, and the general public.
Must be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Share Point and have good knowledge with ERP, TMS and WMS systems.
Demonstrate initiative to achieve expert level in TMS and other frequently used programs within a minimal amount of time.
Demonstrated knowledge of DOT regulations as it pertains to general freight transportation.
Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
