What you will do:
The Senior Manager of People & Culture Business Partners is a strategic role responsible for direct leadership of Tillamook’s People & Culture Business Partner team and establishing business partnerships with various leaders throughout the organization. This position involves collaborating with senior leadership and our business partner team to effectively connect People & Culture work to organizational goals, our shared values, and our culture. This role will be charged with overseeing the business partner team’s “day-to-day” work, including employee relations, strategic union partnership, and various compliance-related work, while effectively partnering across the People & Culture enterprise to execute collective initiatives that drive business impact.
Here’s a day in the life:
Lead the People and Culture Business Partner team, comprised of site-specific leaders and a support team, including structure design/evolution to align with organizational Business Partner model now and in the future.
Equip People & Culture Business partners in their unique career journey at Tillamook, including individualized development, day-to-day coaching, mentoring and continued evolution to align with Strategic HR Business partner model for now and how we scale our impact for the future.
Effectively manage full-scope business partnership with assigned high-level leaders to understand their areas of the business and ensure connectedness to Human Resources initiatives such as in organizational design, employee relations, coaching and development, team job descriptions, and other tactical facets of this work
Demonstrate company values and inclusion and diversity practices both in managing the team and in developing and implementing talent practices.
Act as the lead P&C leader with union relationship management and negotiations, working closely with in-house and external counsel and with plant leadership. Conducting labor relations activities by preparing information for management to utilize during the collective bargaining process; ensure compliance with the unions negotiated contract; providing information for resolve disputes or grievances between employees and management; participating in arbitration processes as appropriate; developing new or revised union contracts; compiling labor statistical information; and maintaining records of wage and salary surveys or correspondence
Partner with Business Partner team and People Analytics teams to further develop Human Resources “data suite” to better connect our Human Resources priorities to drive defined impact (such as identifying trends, insights turnover, employee relations data, internal/external labor trends, etc.)
Develop a solid understanding of the dairy food manufacturing industry, the organization’s Strategic Plan and Enterprise Strategies as well as challenges to success to effectively inform and execute accurate People & Culture Strategies
Partner with Director of Employee Services, and overall team to develop yearly strategic team and individual goals and align on priorities for execution.
Develop, design, and facilitate various meetings on topics including People & Culture related strategies to gain buy in and execution on various current programs (talent calibration processes, etc.)
Partner with Director, Employee Services to continually monitor external HR Trends, news, strategies, HR models to ensure appropriate alignment and innovation takes place across the business partner function
Work collaboratively across the People & Culture team to identify clear handoffs between teams and ensure a positive employee experience for all those involved both internally and externally.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
7 years of progressive HR experience in employee relations, business partnership, and leadership roles, supporting leadership and technical/retail/front-line roles.
5 years of people leadership experience, including HR and leadership experience with a track record of managing, developing, mentoring, and empowering HR professionals.
Labor relations experience is required, including managing union contracts, leading negotiations, and fostering positive, collaborative relationships with union representatives and legal counsel.
Industry experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, with food or CPG manufacturing experience highly desired.
Expertise in handling complex employee relations matters, including diagnosing issues, negotiating workable solutions, and providing clear, concise reports to leadership at all levels.
Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, EEO, and labor compliance.
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to navigate complex situations effectively.
Ability to build trust and foster strong partnerships across all levels of the organization, contributing to a positive workplace culture.
Additional position-related information:
Location: This role is based in Portland, Oregon. Relocation assistance provided.
Travel: Frequent travel to manufacturing sites as needed.
