Tillamook People’s Utility District (PUD) is a customer-owned electric distribution utility providing electric service in Tillamook County and parts of Clatsop and Yamhill Counties in Oregon. Currently we serve about 21,000 customers in an area of 1,125 square miles.

About the Position
A Journeyman Lineman constructs, installs, repairs, maintains, and replaces transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial booms, lifts, and wire-pulling equipment. Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and working out of truck-mounted bucket lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice, and sag wire on energized or de-energized circuits. Operate switches, cutouts, and use grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment. Requires the use of precautionary work methods and safety equipment due to electrical hazards present when working on or near energized conductors and electrical accessories. May train and direct the work of apprentices in the trade.
*Must be willing, available, and responsive to 24-hour callout for emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED
- A Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through IBEW Local 125
- Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman
- Candidate must have formal hot stick training and experience
- Must be proficient in the use of dielectric hot line tools as related to their application in the operation, maintenance, and construction of energized equipment and conductors of all voltage ratings.
- Must possess, or obtain within 60 days, a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement. Driving record must be acceptable and insurable by Tillamook PUD insurance carrier at standard group rates. An annual consent for a release of one’s driving record is also required.
- Must satisfactorily complete the yearly refresher that is required by OSHA 29CFR 1910.269.
- This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening to assure the candidate meets the identified physical demands of the job.
