The Executive Director - Engineering (FTTP) is responsible for leading the overall engineering strategy, design, and execution of Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) initiatives. This role involves overseeing the planning, deployment, and optimization of fiber networks to deliver high-speed connectivity to residential and commercial premises. The Executive Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive the company’s strategic objectives, ensuring network scalability, performance, and customer satisfaction.

The Executive Director - Engineering (FTTP) is responsible for leading the overall engineering strategy, design, and execution of Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) initiatives. This role involves overseeing the planning, deployment, and optimization of fiber networks to deliver high-speed connectivity to residential and commercial premises. The Executive Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive the company’s strategic objectives, ensuring network scalability, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements And Responsibilities
- Define and implement the strategic vision for FTTP engineering that aligns with the company’s long-term business objectives.
- Lead network planning and partner on technology roadmap development to support FTTP expansion.
- Oversee the end-to-end design of FTTP networks, ensuring compliance with company guidelines, industry standards and best practices. Engineer network assets through permitting to support annual expense, revenue, and margin commitments.
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of FTTP engineering and permitting projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering team comprised of internal resources and vendors, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide coaching, and conduct regular evaluations to drive team success.
- Oversee internal/external market Engineering teams to ensure delivery of weekly/monthly production commitments.
- Develop and ensure engineering methods, procedures and design standards are in place and are adhered to.
- Manage and measure team projects, identify and anticipate potential risks in meeting delivery commitments, and prepare and implement mitigation plans in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Effectively manage contract Engineering partners, ensuring timely and quality production in adherence with project scope and change management guidelines.
- Ensure all FTTP deployments comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry certifications.
- Engage with regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and stay informed about changes in compliance standards.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience and training required. MBA or other relevant graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in telecommunications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing FTTP networks.
- Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale FTTP networks.
- Strong knowledge of FTTP technologies, network design principles, and deployment strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing large engineering teams.
- Vendor management expertise.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in budget management, financial analysis, and project planning.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements for deploying FTTP networks.
