What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Fiber Directional Drill Operator (Ditch witch/ Vermeer) position at Tilson Technology Management?
This position is responsible for running a variety of equipment including, horizontal drills, excavators and dump trucks. The individual in this position is required to work at all time with safety in mind. This position will be paid $28.00 hourly, plus a $145 per day, per diem rate. This position can be based in Phoenix, AZ, Wyoming, Las Vegas, NV, Twin Falls, ID, or Wisconsin, and could travel to other markets as needed.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate directional drill rigs
- Responsible for overall site and crew safety and must exhibit and uphold Tilson's safety values
- Foreman must have the ability to Locate/Operate, trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops. Locate & verify all utilities before construction using multiple methods.
- A demonstrated working knowledge of telecommunications construction: familiarity with Horizontal Directional Drills; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools and the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems
- Individuals must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground process
- Manage the build schedule/timeline
- Responsible for running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of Directional Drills, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) and locators, various types of Trucks, Excavators, Forklifts, Dump trucks, etc.
- Serve as single point of contact with company crews, and inspectors
- Able to work in all kinds of outdoor working conditions
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Strong work ethic and desire to be a leader
- Effective communication skills and a positive attitude
- The ability to manage and direct construction crew
- Valid US Driver's License
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work safely, with or without supervision
- Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, excavators
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3yrs operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)
- OSHA 10/30
- Experience leading crew members
- Class A CDL is a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
